He's right, of course. Fegmania! (ridiculous title) retraces the furtive furrows that The Soft Boys ploughed a few years back, and the album officially re-opens the Hitchcock file. Two solo albums have arrived since the former Soft Boys leader "retired" back in '82, but neither of them ever recaptured the spirit, spark, and clout of the group's classic Can Of Bees '79 set, or the punch and push of the Underwater Moonlight album a year later.
Fegmania!, thankfully, redresses the balance and re-establishes Hitchcock's bewildering vision of Psychedelic Pop with great vengeance and dexterity.
