Orion Grabs Hitchcock
Orion Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to Storefont Hitchcock, a concert performance film starring Brit singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock and directed by Jonathan Demme.
The film was lensed the week of December 9 in Gotham, with Hitchcock performing in a downtown storefront before a live audience. Pic will be released theatrically by Orion in fall 1997.
Demme's company, Clinica Estetico, has just announced a producing deal with Universal. But Demme's ties with Orion go back over four helming assignments, including the five-time Academy Award-winner Silence of the Lambs. Others are Philadelphia, Melvin and Howard, and the Talking Heads concert film, Stop Making Sense.
